This bill would also prohibit co-ed overnight programs that are operated or sponsored by a state entity.

This bill would prevent individuals or companies identified on the sanctions list of the United States Department of the treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control from acquiring agricultural and forest property and real property in Alabama.

Ths bill would prohibit employees of public schools from using names or pronouns inconsistent with a student’s legal name or biological sex without written permission from the student’s parent or guardian, as well as protect employees from getting fired for declining to use a student’s preferred name or pronouns. It would also protect students from receiving discipline for refusing to use someone’s preferred name or pronouns.

This bill would prohibit Retirement Systems of Alabama from investing with entities affiliated with Communist Chinese military companies.

Considering Scott is currently running unopposed, his website has not been updated since 2023, where he elaborates on his efforts to “prevent Chinese ownership of property in the State of Alabama”. As ridiculous as this sounds, Champion Title and Settlements has an article verifying that Chinese citizens are now “the number one foreign stakeholders in United States real estate”. Sounds scary? It shouldn’t. These are Chinese citizens, not the government. China’s economic growth has given great wealth to their middle class, and according to East-West Property Advisors, Chinese families see the United States as a great place to study. These are private individuals building wealth for their families and providing a good education for their children. Isn’t that the American dream? The worst possible outcome of this is a decrease in housing for American citizens, but instead of writing bills to help create affordable housing and raise wages for American families, this idiot wants to ban Chinese people from Alabama. Newsflash bozo, they aren’t buying houses in Alabama, they’re mainly buying expensive houses in states like California because of the high rental demand and its proximity to China. If this is such a big issue for Scott maybe he should try to pass some legislation making it harder for landlords to buy up properties in bulk for the sole purpose of renting them.

This guy’s bills are jokes. He hasn’t sponsored a single bill in 2026, and not one of the 4 bills he’s sponsored in 2025 have been passed. It’s possible he’s been too busy to legislate since March 7, 2026, when he became the Chair of the Republican Party of Alabama, but even in the entire year of 2025 he was only able to sponsor 4 bills, all of them dealing with things that are, in my opinion, simply non-issues. His first bill of 2025, HB504, would make it illegal for the Retirement Systems of Alabama to invest in companies tied to the Communist Chinese military. To be clear: this was not, and is not, something that happened.
His later bills would attempt (and fail) to prohibit teachers or students from getting punished for refusing to use a student’s preferred name or pronouns (which has not been an issue in Alabama), and another would attempt to ban drag shows hosted by public libraries where minors are present (the last time I can find evidence of there being a Drag Queen Story Hour in Alabama is almost a decade ago, in 2018).
